My sewing room has become a tiny new friend factory and here are the latest results:
I used a free tutorial from Wild Olive that I pinned a long time ago. I did tweak it a bit by adding 1/4" seam allowance and turning it right side out after sewing. They remind me a little of Hello Kitty -- darn cute.
Ahem. As I get up to address you from my soap box:
I grew up in the 80s and the original three Star Wars movies were a big influence on me. In high school, I worked at a video store (remember when we had those??) and that was when George Lucas remastered episodes IV-VI...and changed all sorts of things that made me wrinkle my nose with disgust. Especially the "Jub-Jub" song at the end of Return of the Jedi. It was so good before; why mess with success, George? Why?
Anywho. Ewoks still bring me joy but these guys are new so I'll have to dig out an old, dusty VHS cassette and teach them the original song. School's out!
P.S. Did you know Kevin Smith and Quentin Tarantino were video store clerks in the 1990s too? More on that later.
I worked in a video store, too! I was a poor college student and did not have a tape player myself though, so could not give many personal recommendations. ;-D Still, I really enjoyed working there. Viva the 80's!
ReplyDeleteClerks, unite! Hey - I've really been enjoying your postcrossings posts (and all of your beautiful photography.) That Belarus one had delightful stamps...
DeleteI watched movies like I was starving and they were food...sometimes three in one sitting. We could play them in the store too and I was always pushing the limits with PG13s.
DeleteHi! I found your blog because you tried for a give-away on my blog, The Material Mavens. I love Minnesota and have a dear niece who lives there. I didn't know about the alterations made to the Star War movies! Too bad; they were great as they were. You have a fun blog here and I want to explore it some more!
ReplyDeleteQuilts/quilters can be sort of that way too...going in too many directions, second-guessing themselves, too busy or overworked sometimes. How do you tell George Lucas (or any talented quilter) to step back and simply enjoy their own work, just as it is?!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
These Ewoks are the cutest things. I love them done in corduroy. I much preferred the old Star Wars . I can't watch the new ones.
ReplyDeletePreach on, sister!
