Very Small Horse: Free to Good Home

Hello and welcome to And Chips.  I'm MissEnota from Minnesota.  MissEnota is a silly name I chose for online activities years ago but seems practical now as I have a rather popular first name in the sewing world.  (It's Kristin.)

I might be a little late to the party but I really want to participate in the Sew, Mama, Sew! Giveaway Day and I realized the only sure way to be involved in a winning drawing would be to hold one of my own so here goes:

I'm offering a little stick horse of your choice.  Choose Yellow, Red, Blue, or pick a custom color combo and I'll whip one up.  These are made by me with clean, new and vintage fabric, notions and new stuffing.  They each have a hanging loop and would make great Christmas tree ornaments or just little do dads to hang around and cheer on your creative endeavors.  I'll also throw in a small surprise inspired by your post or blog.

To win, (Edit: Entry period is now closed!) please comment on this post by answering the question: What advice do you have for a new sewing blogger?  Please look around and let me know what you think about &Chips, the things I've made...anything that comes to mind. Thanks for stopping by and good luck!

The fine print: Please only comment once. You must enter by May 25, 5 p.m. PST.   A random number generator will choose the winner and I will post your name here on the blog and notify you by email (please make sure you supply an email address if you are a no reply blogger.)

Edit, Saturday May 26th:
And the winner is... comment number 16, Crafty Tokyo Mama who wrote:

"I find people really enjoy tutorials. They also like to see the process as well as the finished project. Well, at least, I do! Love your horses. I have the feeling if I won, she (because of course, it is a mare) would turn into a Christmas present for either my daughter or my niece. My niece (age 5) really loves horses."

Congratulations!  I can't wait to send a little mare off to be enjoyed.  I want to thank everyone for participating in my first giveaway.  I really appreciate all of your comments and will be putting that advice into play here at AndChips.  I really hope you stop by again.

  1. My blog is also very small- at this point I don't have the time to put into making it bigger! My suggestion is to make sure to put your blog on lots of link ups. It makes for lots of exposure. :)

  2. What advice do you have for a new sewing blogger? I think it's important to be consistent and offer a few tutorials and free patterns. but with that said my consistency has nose dived with pregnancy...

  4. My blog is small.... but I have got to know new people through joining the stash bee - it's good to get into a group thing and that helps your blog to grow x

  5. Make sure that you find the time to post-- an inactive blog (like mine currently) is not very exciting to the blogging world

  6. I just started my blog and am so lost...I've only been sewing for a year...so I'm so glad you posted that question! Now I have much to read and learn! The horse is ADORABLE...thanks for the post! ^^

  7. So cute--my tree could use one! My advice, don't worry about posting daily or even weekly--just write or post photos when you feel like it--and even though we all love progress shots and tutorials we understand when you got into a project and just have finished shot, so don't apologize, just present. :)

  8. Advice for new bloggers? Enjoy it. First and foremost it should be fun for you. If it's not, why bother? And share the best pictures you can. That doesn't mean you have to get all professional, just make the best photos you can with the supplies you have at the time (that's something I'm learning now).

  13. Blog constantly! It doesn't have to be everyday, but whatever frequency you establish, stick to it.

I rarely follow my own advice, but when I do I notice the difference.

As for that cute horsey... Any color combo will do, but I'm very fond of teal, purple and pink.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  17. I like your blog, your projects are fun and you have cute pictures.
Pictures are very important in a blog, they (and good writing) are what makes me come back.
I find the font a bit hard to read, maybe it's my laptop but it looks sort of faded. But otherwise the layout is nice and clear.
    The horses are cute!

  20. I guess my advice is, as you accumulate posts and projects and tutorials, make sure that navigation is intuitive so your blog readers can find their way around easily. thanks for joining in.

  22. Your stick horses are so fun! I second (or more) someone's earlier suggestion of participating in link parties, swaps, and bees. That way, more people find out that you have a blog! :)

Thanks for the chance to win!

  23. I think pictures free from clutter, and easy-to-read font are important.

  24. I'd say to not let yourself get bogged down by other things and forget to post. Even if it's just popping in with a snapshot of a work in progress its better than being MIA for months on end

  25. Very cute. I'd say the thing I like most in blogs are tutes and lots of photos. Yours looks pretty good to me so far. I love your weiner dogs! And discovering that there is another "collector" out there. ;)
